Sensory processing is the body's method of receiving and interpreting incoming stimuli through the senses. Individually and together, our sensory systems inform the brain how to react and interact with the world around us. Through understanding and managing sensory triggers and preferences, we can develop a sense of safety and well-being, creating environments that support our comfort and reduce the effects of overwhelming stimuli.

This document summarises each sensory system and explores the concept of sensory overload. A sensory trigger checklist then allows you to identify your own sensory needs - or those of someone you support. Finally, a template aids in collectively visualising sensory triggers.
