John Bowlby defined attachment as a lasting psychological connectedness between human beings. This process starts in early life, between a child and their caregiver(s).

As occupational therapy (OT) supports a wide age demographic (from babies to older people), information about attachment can aid understanding of certain behaviours that clients may demonstrate during sessions. This infographic series covers definitions and patterns of attachment, the basic survival needs and components and styles of attachment.
